CREATING CALM

Stressed out? Frazzled nerves? Shake off your troubles and slip into summer with a day of all the relaxation you could wish for in the blissfully serene surroundings of Hockwold Hall. Nestling in 35 acres of woodland and 5 acres of gracious and charming gardens, Hockwold is the perfect place to unwind and let all of your troubles drift away on a soft summer breeze… In the soothing surroundings, secluded and charming gardens and elegant indoor spaces of Hockwold Hall, learn relaxation techniques for creating calm that you will be able to take away from your pick-me- up day and use to bring positive benefits to your life and work.

 

As one of our Relaxees, your day will begin practising mindfulness with tea or juice in the gardens to restore and refresh your spirits. Together we will practice a range of techniques for restoring balance and reducing stress. All techniques are taught seated in a chair or standing up so no difficult postures to worry about. You will have the opportunity to develop thoughtful awareness as you practice indoors and walk outside in the peaceful gardens. Your day as one of our Relaxees ends as it began with tea or juice and a gentle mindfulness practice as you listen to birdsong and the leaves rustling in the breeze. Everyone needs some TLC…Tranquillity in Lush Countryside!

AWAKENING TO THE SENSES: NATURE & NURTURE DAY

Welcome to another day of relaxation, calm and creating inner stillness the Hockwold Hall Way. What better place to awaken to the senses and explore Nature through meditation than in this historic haven of woodlands and secluded gardens? Be inspired to take another look at the senses we take for granted and revitalise your use of them. See and hear with renewed enjoyment, awareness and vitality; immerse yourself in the wonderful sights and sounds of this delightful country house and gardens.

 

Your day will begin with a warm Hockwold welcome as always leading you gently into practicing techniques for understanding and working with mindfulness in hearing, sight and touch. Our relationship with everyday objects can reveal how we carry tensions in the body and mind and we will be working in relation to things/objects around us to release as many of those tensions as we can. All techniques are taught seated in a chair or standing so no difficult postures to worry about. Your day will draw to a close in the same relaxed and friendly way it began. Nurture yourself and be inspired by Nature in this wonderful setting.

MAKING SPACE & SETTING THE PACE: CREATING CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE

Do you wish you could bring about positive change in your life? Or do you wish that you didn’t have to deal with changes at all? Come to Hockwold Hall and enjoy a day exploring creative and multi-sensory techniques for creating change in your life and discovering how to support the body and mind to internalise and integrate changes fully.

 

Welcome to this uplifting and enchanting environment where you will be guided through visualisations, body and breath based relaxation techniques and body-based exercises by Susan, relaxation teacher and skills coach. All techniques are taught seated in a chair or standing up so no difficult postures to worry about. Feel supported as you explore the ways in which you can bring about positive change in your life. Hidden away in historic Hockwold is the key to unlocking your potential. Are you going to find that key this summer? Make space, set the pace; create change in your life.

 


Susan Washtell

Hi! I’m Susan, a relaxation teacher and skills coach with a drama background and Theatre Directing MA. I love teaching people how to relax, meditate and bring about positive changes in their lives and I think Hockwold Hall is the perfect setting for practising all of these. I’ve worked in post-compulsory education as a relaxation teacher, life, academic and creative skills coach and been meditating in the Buddhist Theravadan tradition since the early 1990’s. Iyengar and Hatha Yoga, the Alexander Technique, NLP and Hypnosis have added to my knowledge of the body-mind relationship and how it affects our well-being, our behaviour and provided me with skills and techniques I can’t wait to share with you. I look forward to welcoming you as a Relaxee and sharing a little bit of summer with you at Hockwold Hall.
