Hockwold Inn

EU Regional Development Fund

The Hockwold Inn is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund. We received a Successful DRIVE Application grant that allowed us to develop additional accommodations delivering a much-needed boost in our ability to attract a larger customer base. Historically we fail to cater to Disabled guests / Elderly guests.

Hockwold Hall is Listed and the fabric of the main house dates back to the 1500s, as a result, we are unable to make alterations to allow disabled or elderly guests access to our current rooms. This was our largest challenge and the Hockwold Inn provided a proactive solution. We are excited to give this building a new lease of life.

Without the constraints of a listed property, the Hockwold Inn was designed with a layout that allows for 3 bedrooms on the ground floor with one specifically designed for wheelchair users. The second floor will have an additional 5 bedrooms to allow us to host larger groups.

Project Outline

The existing building was renovated and required the following work to make it ready for our guests. The building required minor building works to address a need to comply with building control regulations for commercial accommodation. These included sound and acoustic deadening on the floorboards, Fire protection upgrades, doorways stairs and exit widths to be adjusted for disabled guests. Plumbing requirements included installing all the fixtures and fittings for the en suite bathrooms. Electrical works include installations of sockets in the bedrooms, lighting and sockets in the hallways for cleaners to access.
