Planning your wedding the Pinterest Way

If looking through pages and pages of magazines, cutting out favourite pictures, annotating which style takes your fancy and carrying around a big wedding scrapbook/organiser is not for you then do not fear Pinterest is here! This helpful app allows you to create a visual pinboard of absolutely every detail of your wedding, leaving no stone unturned. This modern tool is so effective in organising your big day it will hopefully save you time and take some stress away as everything is just a click, tap, swipe away!

The Basics

After setting up an account (which is very simple to do) the Pinterest world is now your oyster! It’s a good idea to organise ‘pin boards’ into wedding categories for example: dress, cake, venue inspiration, flowers, entertainment, Bridesmaid dresses, hair, make up… the list goes on. But by organising each board with a different category this will help you keep on top of what has been done and what is left to do. You will find if your boards are not organised it can become one big pin mess and an overwhelming headache which to be fair, we are trying to avoid!

Pros of Pinterest

Trying to convince yourself or the other half to use Pinterest, well I think this is something to seriously consider as it will make communicating with wedding suppliers and your wedding party so much easier. Once you have your pin boards set up and saved pictures which reflect the style of your wedding, you can then allow selected collaborators (friends who you choose) or even florists, cake makers and dress designers to add more pins to boards, comment and react to what you have chosen and help you think of things which you initially may not have done. This is such a great way to choose your bridesmaid dresses or even pre wedding things like the hen or stag do as everyone can feel involved pinning ideas. Let’s face it you may not agree on every pin added (that’s where the delete button comes in handy) but over time a common trend will appear and this will start to make your planning a lot easier.

It’s a great idea to have some boards open to others so they can help you with the planning but do not panic as Pinterest also has a function where only you can access the content with secret boards. This handy feature allows you to carry on pinning away not having to worry that any big ideas have been leaked to your wedding party. It’s nice to keep some areas of the wedding planning just for your eyes only.

Your Decision

This day and age we are forever on our phones and having this handy app a tap away means you can wedding plan on the go at any time of the day. You can pick and choose who you involve in the planning, you can make sure that wedding suppliers fully understand the theme/look you are going for and you get all this by picking and choosing images that suit you. All in all, Pinterest is a great tool, anything that makes your life easier when planning the biggest day of your life deserves a big thumbs up.
